Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 August 2026  ·  PagePitch, pagepitch.co.uk

The short version: We collect your contact details when you request a free preview. We use them to build your site and follow up. We never sell your data, never spam you, and you can ask us to delete everything at any time. If we've built a preview for your business without you asking, see "Businesses we contact" below — one email and it's gone.

Who we are

PagePitch is a website design and hosting service for UK tradespeople and local businesses, operating at pagepitch.co.uk.

For data protection purposes, PagePitch is the data controller — meaning we decide how and why your personal data is used.

If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, contact us at hello@pagepitch.co.uk.

What data we collect and why

Most of the data we hold is data you actively give us. There are two exceptions, both explained below: previews we build before you have contacted us, and counting scans of our printed QR codes. When you fill in our free preview request form, we collect:

Data Why we collect it Required?
Your name To address you personally when we get in touch Yes
Business name To build your website preview with the right branding Yes
Trade / industry To design a site suited to your specific type of work Yes
Email address To send you your free preview link and follow up Yes
Phone number In case you prefer a call rather than email No
Current website or social page So we can use your existing content and branding as a reference No
Your message Any additional context you want to share No

We do not collect any payment information on this site. We do not set any cookies. We do use a privacy-first analytics tool that counts visits without cookies and without identifying you — see Cookies and tracking below.

Businesses we contact (preview websites)

Sometimes we build a free preview website for a local business before they've spoken to us, so we can show the owner exactly what we could do for them. If we've done this for your business, here is exactly what that involves:

Our legal basis for using your data

Under UK GDPR, we must have a lawful reason for using your personal data. We rely on legitimate interests — specifically, our legitimate interest in responding to people who have asked us to build them a free website, and your legitimate interest in receiving that service. We have assessed that this interest does not override your rights or freedoms.

For optional fields (phone, current website, message), we rely on your consent by voluntarily providing them.

How we use your data

We will never use your data for any other purpose without telling you first.

Who we share your data with

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers or third-party marketing services. We use the following third-party services:

How long we keep your data

If you request a free preview but do not become a customer, we keep your enquiry details for up to 2 years, after which we delete them. This period exists so we can follow up at your pace — some people take time to decide.

If you become a customer, we keep your data for as long as your account is active and for up to 6 years after it closes, to comply with legal and financial record-keeping requirements.

You can ask us to delete your data at any time (see "Your rights" below) and we will do so unless we are legally required to retain it.

QR code scan records are kept for 24 months and then deleted. They contain nothing that identifies you — see Smart QR codes on printed cards and leaflets below.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the following rights over your personal data:

To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@pagepitch.co.uk. We will respond within 30 days. We will not charge you for making a request.

Cookies and tracking

This website does not use cookies. Nothing is stored on your device, and you will not see a cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.

We do use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It is a privacy-first tool chosen specifically because it does not use cookies, does not fingerprint your device, and does not follow you across other websites. It records the page visited, roughly where in the world the visit came from, the type of device, and which site linked you here — all of it aggregated, none of it tied to you as an individual. We cannot identify you from it, and neither can Cloudflare. You can read how it works on Cloudflare's site.

We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or any cross-site tracking. If that ever changes, we will update this policy and add a cookie notice before switching anything on.

Smart QR codes on printed cards and leaflets

Business cards, leaflets and other printed items we produce carry a "smart" QR code, including PagePitch's own business cards. Instead of pointing straight at a phone number or website, it points at a short web address we control, so the destination can be changed later without reprinting anything. When you scan one, you pass through that address and on to wherever the code currently points — usually a WhatsApp chat or a website.

We count that scan. The redirect happens immediately; the count is written separately and never delays it. We record only:

We deliberately do not record your IP address, your postcode, your name, your phone number, or anything else that could identify you. No cookie is set. Nothing is stored on your device. You are not followed to the page you land on, and the scan is not linked to any other visit, before or after.

The town is deliberately as far as we go. Your internet connection makes a more precise location available to us and we do not collect it — in a rural area a postcode can narrow down to a handful of houses, and that is not something we need in order to count a scan. Because the location comes from the network rather than your device, it is approximate: it often shows the town where your mobile provider's equipment sits rather than where you are standing.

Why we do it: so the business whose card or leaflet you scanned can find out how many people scanned it and roughly which areas they came from. Someone who has just paid for five thousand leaflets deserves to know whether the leaflets worked. That is the whole purpose, and the figures only ever make sense as totals — "forty-two scans, mostly around Barnsley" — never as records of individual people.

Our legal basis for this is legitimate interests: measuring whether printed advertising is working. We have weighed this against your privacy and kept the data to the minimum that answers the question, with nothing that identifies you.

Who sees it: us, and the business whose printed item you scanned, who can see scan totals and the rough areas those scans came from. It is never sold, never shared for marketing, and never passed to advertisers.

Where it is kept: on Cloudflare's servers in Western Europe. We keep scan records for 24 months, after which they are deleted.

If you would rather not be counted, you can reach us directly instead of scanning — email hello@pagepitch.co.uk, or use the contact details printed alongside the code. Scanning is the only thing that creates a scan record. Note that if a code sends you on to a website, that website may count the visit in its own right, as described under Cookies and tracking above.

Data security

This website is served over HTTPS (encrypted connection). Your form submission is transmitted securely to Formspree. We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your data from unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure.

No method of internet transmission is 100% secure. If you believe your data has been mishandled, please contact us immediately at hello@pagepitch.co.uk.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator:

We would always appreciate the chance to address your concern directly before you contact the ICO — please reach out to us first at hello@pagepitch.co.uk.

Changes to this policy

If we make changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. If the changes are significant, we will notify active customers by email. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
